Daniel Moen Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 30, 2026.
Daniel Joseph Moen, known affectionately as "Dan," passed away on January 16, 2026. Born on April 10, 1960, in Kirkland, Washington, Daniel was a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and a talented horseman. His love and passion for horses led him to become the youngest ever to serve as a judge in the Washington State Horseman and he continued to hold judges cards in multiple breeds throughout his life. Moreover, Daniel's smart approach to life saw him complete multiple degrees and enjoy a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse, specializing in psychiatric nursing.

Dan's loving nature was evident in his commitment to his husband, Randy, whom he had been married to since October 25, 2020. His loyalty was a beacon to his closest friends: Kathy Norton, Susan Gleeson, and Danielle Ackerman, as well as to his beloved dog, Nika. Whether he was residing in his birthplace of Kirkland, or in Redmond, WA, Ellensburg, WA, Lexington, KY, or his final residence in Yakima, Washington, Daniel was always ready to extend a helping hand, especially to those in the horse community. As the saying goes, 'The measure of a life well-lived is not in how much money one has in the bank, but in how well one has touched the lives of others.' Daniel's life, filled with deep relationships and meaningful work, truly embodied this sentiment.

Daniel is survived by his loving husband, Randy Moen, and his dear niece, Danielle Ackerman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Moen and Karen Kennard. Daniel's legacy of love, loyalty, talent, and intelligence will continue to live on in the hearts of those he has left behind.

As we mourn the loss of our dear Daniel, we invite all who knew him to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page. In this way, we can keep the spirit of Daniel alive, celebrating his life and the love he shared with us all.
