Obituary of Daniel William Murphy
Daniel William Murphy, age 71, of
Aston, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 18, 2026, at Lankenau Hospital, surrounded by the love of the family he spent his whole life building.
Born in Aston to the late Medley and Germaine DuBois Murphy, Dan was a lifelong resident of the community he called home. His parents were originally from Augusta, Maine, and Dan carried that connection throughout his life-making regular trips to Maine with his family that became some of their most treasured memories together.
Dan built a career that spanned more than five decades in operations and manufacturing management. He began at the Franklin Mint, where he spent 15 years learning the business from the ground up. From there, he moved to QVC, where he served as a Distribution Shift Manager for over 20 years. He went on to hold a leadership role at Container Research Corporation, where he retired as Program Manager. Through every role and every company, Dan brought the same qualities: a relentless work ethic, a demand for getting things right, and-perhaps most importantly-a genuine care for the people around him. He wasn't just a manager; he was a mentor. He took the time to teach, to listen, and to invest in the people who worked alongside him. Those who worked for Dan didn't just learn the job-they learned how to do it well, because he wouldn't have it any other way.
That same spirit carried into how he raised his three sons. Dan led by example, showing them what it meant to work hard, to care about the details, and to treat people with respect. His guidance didn't stop when they grew up, either-he was always just a phone call away when one of his boys needed help navigating a tough situation at work or in life.
Dan was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Aston. He was a devoted and proud husband to his wife Linda for 50 years-and he was quick to tell others how much he adored her. He was proud to call her his wife.
Anyone who knew Dan knew that his home and yard were always immaculate. But it wasn't just about appearances-it was about pride. The way Dan maintained his property reflected the way he approached everything in life: with care, with attention, and with the belief that things worth doing are worth doing right. His landscaping was just one more expression of a man who took pride in all that he did. Dan loved family trips to Maine, visits to the beach, and day trips to Lancaster. He cherished the holidays, when the house would fill with the noise and laughter of his grandchildren-all eight of whom knew him as Grampy. Those moments, with Linda beside him and his family gathered close, were the ones he lived for.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Linda F. (Ewing) Murphy; his three sons, Dan (Mary) Murphy, Josh (Tia) Murphy, and Mark (Courtney) Murphy; his siblings, Michael Murphy, Colleen Lewis, and John Murphy; and his eight cherished grandchildren.
Dan was a wonderful, caring, and loving husband, father, and Grampy. He was well-loved by everyone who knew him, and he will truly be missed.
