DANIEL A. NIENABER
February 28, 1962 ˜ June 23, 2025
Daniel “Dan” Nienaber, longtime resident of Vancouver, WA, passed away on June 23, 2025. He was at his care home in Kelso, following complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. He was 63.
Dan spent part of his childhood in Bellingham before settling in Vancouver, where he graduated from Ridgefield High School. He got his start in landscaping working for Shorty’s Nursery and went on to build his own successful business, Dan’s Landscaping, later known as West Valley Landscape.
Dan was known for his sharp sense of humor and gift for storytelling. He loved watching birds and spending time outdoors interests that reflected his lifelong appreciation for nature.
He is survived by his son, Nathaniel Nienaber, and his brothers, Phil Nienaber and Bryan Nienaber.
A small celebration of life will be held on August 9, at Bryan Nienaber’s home. For details, please contact Nathaniel at [email protected].
Dan will be remembered with love for his laughter, warmth, and the lasting beauty he left behind in every garden he touched.

My sweet Danny Boy, was so full of love, joy and laughter. I met him at Rosie´s cafe twenty plus years ago as I was his waitress for a long time there and at plainsman restaurant. We grown to love each other deeply. One thing about Dan he never got mad , he was always happy. He wanted that way. His remark was it´s all about the good times no bad times , he meant it . He talked about his son all the time about how proud he was about his boy. He was a proud dad. Plus how proud he was to have his brothers Phil, Bryan, Ky. He loved his brothers a lot of what he has told me. I miss him so much it hurts . But he is at peace, we will never forget you. You´re in our heart and soul forever more . Love you babe. Dan was always fun to chat with in high school and at reunions. He also spoke of how proud he was of his son and what a good kid he was. Thinking of your family at this time.
