Daniel Wayne Nunley

Daniel Wayne Nunley, 35, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his aunt, Patsy Garland; uncle, Tommy Branagan; and cousin, Donnie Underwood.

Daniel loved his family deeply. He was a devoted son, brother, and uncle, and will be truly and deeply missed. Outgoing and full of life, Daniel loved fishing, camping, riding dirt bikes and water slides, and going on roller coasters-anything that went fast! He had an incredible sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh. Daniel could keep friends entertained for hours playing cards and sharing stories about life.

He was also a talented artist with a passion for poetry, storytelling, and songwriting. As an expert welder, Daniel excelled at any job he set his mind to.

Unfortunately, Daniel also faced personal struggles he could never fully overcome. His natural abilities and talents were often stifled by a lifelong battle with addiction, and because of this, he was never quite able to fulfill his full purpose in life. Yet in spite of, or perhaps because of, his struggles, Daniel's faith remained strong. He wholeheartedly believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior and often waged spiritual warfare in his own life.

His family takes comfort in knowing that Daniel is now with a mighty and merciful Savior and that his struggle is finally over. The peace that always seemed just out of reach for him in life is now his in Heaven.

Left to cherish Daniel's precious memory are his father, Rickie J. Nunley; mother, Donna B. Nunley; sisters, Hope Nunley Caldwell, Nikki J. Nunley, and Adrianne N. Nunley; nieces, Alyssa Nunley Chocklett and Tylieanne B. Nunley; and nephews, Jacob Sparks, James Sparks and Isaac Nunley.

The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton. A memorial service will follow at 12 p.m., with Pastor Adam Reynolds officiating.

The family encourages anyone who may be struggling with their own demons to reach out to them for prayer and support in whatever way they can provide.
