Daniel Joseph Pinizzotto, age 77, of Boise, Idaho, passed away at home on Monday, August 25th, 2025, with family by his side.
Dan was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 19, 1948, and spent some of his childhood there before moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1968, Dan joined the Air Force and a year later, met and married the love of his life, Barbara Gayle Dallas, in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Dan and Gayle built a beautiful family together, one they both desperately wanted. They, along with their children, traveled the world with the Air Force for more than 22 years. Their adventures took them to beautiful places like Alaska, Colorado, Michigan, Louisiana, Japan, and finally Idaho, where he retired from the Air Force in 1991. Dan eventually went on to work for the Veteran’s Administration for an additional 20 years before fully retiring in 2011.
Dan loved fishing, golfing and traveling with Gayle. After retirement, they spent many amazing vacations in places like Mexico, Italy, and Ireland, but they were known to pick up and drive wherever the sun was shining for a weekend getaway. Dan’s children were the light of his life, and he loved nothing more than teaching them to fish, dance and how to enjoy good food, great music and classic movies.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Gayle Pinizzotto; his children, Donna Wilson (John), Andrea Rodrigues (George) and Robert Pinizzotto; his grandchildren John Wilson (Karly), Molly Thompson (Devan), Raef Rodrigues, Nico Pinizzotto, Peyton Rodrigues and Sophia Pinizzotto; and his great grandchildren Kylie, Kaycie, Emily, Johnnie and Eli.
Dan was preceded in death by his grandmother Pearl Jones, his brother-in-law Gary Dallas, his in-laws, Donnie and Etta Mae Dallas, his daughter-in-law, Brandee Pinizzotto, and his sister-in-law, Peggy Kamil.
A viewing will be held at Bowman’s Funeral Home in Boise on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed our family is for the wonderful hospice caregivers at Keystone Hospice and the Veterans Administration. Thank you is not enough.
