Daniel Robert Reed of The Dalles, Oregon passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025 in Hood River, Oregon. Dan was born on December 23, 1940, to Robert and Ida (Allison) Reed of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He had two sisters, Laura (Reed) Jeffries of Hood River and Eva (Reed) Ray of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and grew up there until he was 14 and moved to White Salmon, WA with his family. He attended High School here, where he met our mother Virginia Carolyn Viall and were married July 13, 1958.
He worked at SDS Lumber in Bingen, WA and they had 5 children, Vivian Lee, William Daniel Roberta Kay, Darla Sue, and Rhonda Rae. He was a very active bowler his whole life and worked with Don Barber running the White Salmon Bowling Alley in his free time.
He also enjoyed fishing, golfing ad helping his parents with the family farm and Convalescent Home in Pucker Huddle outside the city limits of White Salmon. He was a lifelong Member of the Mt. Adams Elks Lodge #1868 in White Salmon. Later in life he moved to Hood River and began a new adventure in a different career path with Northwest Vacutech and driving truck for United Grocers from which he retired.
It was at this time that he met Julie Silva of Hood River and they were married in1985 and moved to Boardman, Oregon where he lived for 36 years. He then added 5 step- children, Fred, Kevin, Steve, Sandy and Lisa Silva to the family. He was quite the comedian to, teaching his daughters naughty little songs that our mother hated and his favorite saying, "Do as I say, not as I do" He never knew a stranger and talked to anyone and everyone that would listen. He always had a way of making people laugh.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Robert and Ida Reed, his sisters; Laura Jeffries and Eva Ray, his son William Daniel and his daughter Vivian Lee.
He is survived by his Virginia Reed of The Dalles, OR. His daughters Roberta Wymore- Hulit and husband Damon, Darla Coyner and husband Larry and Rhonda Reed and Chris Gossen and son-in-law Gerald Lee. He is survived by grandchildren; Daniel P. Reed, Victor A. Lee, Andrea D. Lee, Jessica L. Thomas-Cole, Tia' M. Larson, Katie Mainero, Robert A. Wymore IV, Bailey N. Adams, David, Cory & Peter Silva, Tim & Michelle Silva, Jesse Silva, Jaimie Murray, Aaron Eidman, and great grandchildren; Colton Hammer, Harper & Penny Reed, Odin & Piper Larson, Cohen Coyner & Rylie Mainero and Taylor Cole. There are also 11 step-grandchildren and several very special nieces, nephews and cousins.
