Daniel Joseph Roon, 63, of Evans, GA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Whole Life Ministries. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00pm - 2:30pm. Whole Life Ministries is located at 2621 Washington Rd. in Augusta, GA.
Danny was born in New Jersey but lived most of his life in the Augusta / Evans area and worked at Savannah River Site. He loved the outdoors, hunting, boating, shooting and working the land of his hunting club, but nothing was more special to him than his family. At the age of 19, he married his sweetheart, Penny Prescott, and the two shared 44 (almost 45) happy years together. They raised two daughters, Erin Chrisco (Britt) & Katie Bragg (Alex), and welcomed 5 grandchildren, Alva Kate Chrisco, Anna Lea Chrisco, Joseph Chrisco, Harper Bragg & Bennett Bragg. They also parented and grand-parented many, exceedingly loved fur babies.
When Danny and Penny were in their early years of marriage, Danny received his official "Certificate of Manhood," a one-of-a-kind, never replicated document that was presented to him by his late father-in-law, Randolph Prescott, and notarized by his sister-in-law, Mandy Prescott (now Pennington). As they raised their family, Danny and Penny focused on three things: Love for the Lord, hard work, and spending time as a family. The Roons were and are deeply rooted members of Whole Life Ministries, and they love the Lord with all their hearts. Danny and Penny raised their girls to be strong, independent women, and they both know they've fulfilled their daddy's greatest desire, that they become "productive members of society." At the ages of 30 & 26, and after many years of Erin and Katie nagging, Danny finally designated his daughters as "adults" and the family began what would be a cherished tradition for 10 years.....the Annual Father's Day River Trip. Danny loved that trip so much that each year, he could always be counted on to deliver numerous calendar updates....."16 weeks from Friday, we'll be headed down the river!"
Here to love and remember him every day, Danny's extended family members include his mother-in-law, Shirley Prescott, sisters-in-law, Mandy Pennington (Delmar) & Randi Westover (Patrick), brother-in-law, Butch Prescott, his mother, Suzanne Roon, his brother, David Roon, his sister, Rebecca Freimann (Holger), many nieces and nephews, and several bonus daughters.
He was the best husband, daddy, father-in-law, papa, son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, friend and neighbor that ever was or ever will be. His legacy will continue until the Lord Jesus comes to reunite us all.....and we know He's coming very soon. Until then, we love you Daddy.
