OBITUARY
Daniel Gerard Samel, known to most as "Danny", of Luebbering, MO departed this life in St. Louis, MO on October 7, 2025, having reached the age of sixty-three years, two months and twenty-seven days. Danny was born in Troy, MO on July 11, 1962, son of Robert Norman Samel and Cecilia Marie Samel nee Liikala. On September 21, 1985 he was united in marriage to Ramona Kay Morton, known to most as "Mona", and two children came to bless this union.
Danny is survived by his wife, Mona Samel of Luebbering, MO; by two children, Daniel Samel and wife, Tori, of Luebbering, MO and Kayla Samel and significant other, Luke Pridemore, of Sullivan, MO; by four grandchildren, Reagan, Raylan and Kenzi Samel and Eleanor Pridemore; by his brother, Patrick Samel of Rolla, MO; by four sisters, Pam Benson and husband, Bruce, of New Haven, MO, Marianne Lindsey and husband, Bill, of Union, MO, Barbara Leadbetter of St. Clair, MO and Donna Hinson of St. Clair, MO; by his mother-in-law, Janice Morton of Luebbering, MO; by his sister-in-law, Miste Laturno and husband, Tim, of Lonedell, MO; by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Cecilia Samel.
Danny was a Christian, having attended Oak Grove Baptist Church. During his working career he worked as a laborer, doing mostly commercial construction for Volk Construction for twenty-five, as well as various construction companies totaling thirty years. He was a volunteer firefighter for St. Clair, MO for just over thirty years. Danny enjoyed taking care of his yard, tinkering and sitting around a bonfire. He embraced each day one moment at time with a love he shared with his family and friends. What meant most to him was the time he spent with his family and friends. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever live on in their hearts.
A kind and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the family's home with a private committal taking place at a later date. Memorial may be made to the Professional Firefighters of St. Clair, Local 2665. The family entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
