Daniel Simmerly Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eaton Funeral Home & Cremation Center - Main Chapel on Mar. 25, 2025.
Daniel Lee Simmerly, 66, of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 1, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Vernon and Pat (Clark) Simmerly. Danny was a man whose robust laughter and generous spirit left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
Growing up in Sullivan, Missouri, Danny's early education laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and dedication. As a young man, he moved to Bourbon, where he would establish his roots and build a life filled with love, laughter, and service. Danny's career as a lineman began at an early age, and his commitment to his craft led him to join the Local 71 as a Journeyman Lineman. For over 35 years, he was a respected figure in his field, with plans to retire later in the year of 2025.
On May 19, 1984, Danny married the love of his life, Lisa Jones, and together they welcomed four daughters into the world: Nicole, Whitney, Samantha, and Lauren. The Simmerly household was one filled with warmth and joy, as Danny and Lisa raised their family in the close-knit community of Bourbon. In 1993, they moved to their beloved home, where countless memories were created and cherished.
Danny's commitment to his community was evident in his active involvement with the Bourbon Fire Board and his role as director of Emergency Services of Bourbon. His leadership and dedication to these roles were a testament to his desire to serve and protect those around him.
Danny was a man of many passions, and his love for cars-especially the loud and fast kind-was legendary. Whether at the racetrack or tinkering with engines in his garage, he thrived on the adrenaline of high-speed pursuits, always surrounded by a close-knit group of friends who shared his enthusiasm. But it wasn't just the thrill of the race that defined him; it was also the river, where he found peace and excitement in equal measure. Surrounded by family and friends, Danny spent countless hours racing boats, indulging in fish frys, and sharing laughter. It was there, with those who mattered most that he truly embraced the simple pleasures of life in the great outdoors.
Above all, Danny cherished his role as a grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment with them, especially the Facetime chats that allowed him to share in their lives no matter the distance.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Simmerly; his 4 beloved daughters, Nicole King and husband, JR, Whitney Bridgeman and husband, Tom all of Bourbon, MO, Samantha Oberkramer and husband, Scottie of San Antonio, TX, and Lauren Martin and husband, Cody of Bourbon, MO; 7 grandchildren: Addie, Aiden, Easton, Harper, Oliver, Malia, & Bentley; two sisters: Charlotte Hall of Springfield and Julie Little and husband, Randy all of Springfield, MO; a brother David Simmerly and wife, Sandy of Kissee Mills, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Honor Bridgeman; his parents, Vernon and Pat Simmerly; and a brother-in-law, Bob Hall.
Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, March 28, 2025, at Temple Baptist Church of Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Bourbon Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Temple Baptist Church of Sullivan.
