Daniel Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen Mortuary Chapel - Phoenix on Jan. 13, 2026.
Daniel F. Smith, beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026.
Dan was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on May 24, 1949, the third of nine children born to Lloyd and Marion Smith (nee Stammen); he is survived by five brothers and three sisters. The family moved to Phoenix in 1958, and Dan never looked back.
He was a custom home builder in the valley for nearly 30 years. He enjoyed managing build-to-suits and was a true craftsman. His humility, competence, skill, and ability to bring a vision to completion were hallmarks of who he was at work and earned him respect in his industry. Clients trusted and adored him.
Dan is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shelly, his two sons Jason (wife Cortney) and Harrison (wife Kylee), and grandchildren Landon, Jacy, Zoey, and Colton. He was a devoted father to Jason and Harrison having been there for every sport and every game, sometimes even coaching. He loved attending the grandchildren's events, too, and was so proud of their achievements
