Daniel Ervwin Smith, age 79, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. All services are under the direction of the Bells Funeral Home.
Mr. Daniel was proceeded in death by his parents, Carl and Jenny Smith and his brother, Steve Smith.
Mr. Daniel is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Mrs. Pat Smith and his brother David Smith and his wife Kelly.
They moved to Bells in 1966, where Carl was the pastor of Bells Church of Christ.
Mr. Daniel and his wife, “Pat” Patricia Ann Hart Smith, were married in 1968 and moved to Humboldt, TN. Mr. Daniel’s family were a very talented family. His mother, Jenny, had a master’s in music and his brother, David Smith (Kelly) played with Roy Clark for over 22 years. Dan’s passion was music. He could play anything from the trumpet, drums, harmonica, guitar, banjo, organ and piano. If there was a piano in the room, he would sit down and play. His saying was, “If you can hum it, I can play it!”
In the 1970’s he became the owner and operator of West Tennessee Coffee Services, which later became TriState Coffee Services. After selling the coffee business, he began his other passion, in custom cabinetry. He loved to build but decided to retired in 2019 and moved to Jackson, TN.
He will be greatly miss by all of his family and friends. There are no funeral arrangements made at this time but will be announced later by the Bells Funeral Home.
