Danny Eugene Lilly, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 7, 2026, at his home in Humboldt, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 30, 1953, in Ripley, TN, and enjoyed his childhood at Shoaf’s Island. Danny's journey through life was marked by his unwavering faith and deep love for God.

Danny devoted many years of his life to his career as a line supervisor at Anderson and Hickey in Halls, TN. It was there that his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence became evident. Later, he discovered a passion for the scrap metal business, spending every chance he had scouring for metal treasures. His enthusiasm for this trade became a colorful part of his life, showcasing his resourcefulness and ingenuity.

Friends and family will fondly remember how he always approached each day with a smile, firmly believing that waking up in a good mood set the tone for everything to come. His incredible sense of humor brought endless laughter to those around him, and he delighted in playfully teasing his dear friend, Bro. David Dearth.

Those who knew Danny appreciated not only his skills in business but also his heartfelt devotion to his faith. He loved God deeply and praised the Lord with all his heart. Danny often encouraged those around him to seek salvation, urging anyone who hadn’t accepted the Lord as their Savior to open their hearts to Jesus.

Danny's faith was at the core of who he was. He LOVED GOD and praised Him with all of his heart. He often encouraged others to embrace the Lord, urging them to accept Jesus into their lives, believing wholeheartedly in the importance of salvation. His truck proudly displayed the message, “Are you Saved? Repent—Jesus Loves You,” a testament to his unyielding commitment to share his faith with everyone he encountered.

Danny leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted daughter and primary caregiver, Melissa Kaye Clark; the mother of his children, Rosemary Meeks Sherman; and his brother, Marvin Lilly (Shelia). His grandchildren, who brought him immense joy, include Markie Permenter, Starr Burkeen, Sarah Permenter, Emily Apperson, Devon Lilly, Shawn Lilly, Desiree Lilly Smith (Jonathan), and Kara Lilly. Additionally, he was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Oliver Permenter, Lawson Wayne Cogdell, and Kylie Grace Shoaff. His close friends, Mr. Connie Taylor, Bro. Rowdy Davis and Bro. David Dearth, were also important pillars in Danny's life, offering companionship and support.

Danny’s heart will always remain with those who sadly departed before him, including his son, Daniel Wayne Lilly, and his brothers: Lewis Junior, the twins Cloyce and Royce, Rayburn, and Leonard Lilly, as well as his sisters: Helen Lilly Ethridge, Dorothy Lilly, and Rhonda Lilly Risner. Their memories are forever interwoven with his own, creating a beautiful tapestry of love and connection.

The visitation for Danny will take place on January 12, 2026, at Bells Funeral Home in Bells, TN, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on January 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM, also at Bells Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Dry Hill Cemetery in Halls, TN, following the service, in a burial scheduled for 1:00 PM.

In these times of sorrow, we remember Danny Eugene Lilly not just for his life’s work but for the love he spread to all who crossed his path. His spirit will continue to light the way for his family and friends, as they hold him close in their hearts forever.
