Daniel J. Spang Sr. age 64 of Neenah died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday December 11, 2024. Dan was born on August 4, 1960 to the late Florian and June (Moran) Spang.
He was a graduate of New Holstein High School class of 1979. After high school he became employed by American Can (currently TC Transcontinental) working in the press room for 43 years, retiring in 2022. Dan was a great athlete and participated in sports including bowling and softball. He was also an avid NASCAR, Packer, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks fan.
Some of the things he enjoyed most were his huge bon fires and his vegetable gardens. He and Kim had every kind of tomato there is, cucumbers and the pumpkins for his granddaughters Aniyah and Armani. Those girls were the world to him.
Dan was united in marriage to his beloved wife Kim on June 22, 2019 but they spent many years together before their marriage.
He is survived by his loving wife Kim; children, Lizz (Brad) Cieslewicz, Daniel Spang Jr. (Kipp Nielson), Eric (Shae) Kofnetka and Whitney Nelson; grandchildren, Aniyah and Armani Kofnetka and granddaughter Cieslewicz due in January 2025. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Carol Spang, Patricia Whitney, Judy Spang, Cheryl Hibbard, Theresa Spang, Kevin Spang, Mary (Mark) Smith, Barry Spang and Craig Spang; his mother-in-law Caroline Nelson and brothers-in-law Tom (Michelle) Nelson and Tim (Debbie) Nelson. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter, Steven, Kendall, Ronald and David; his sister, Connie Hobbs, his father-in-law John Nelson, his sister-in-law Pam Nelson and brothers-in-law Thomas Hibbard and John Whitney.
Memorial services for Dan will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday December 21, 2024 at the Kessler Fahrenkrug Funeral Home 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah.
