Daniel Sr., only child of James and Mae (nee Viton) Stech, passed away on October 2, 2024.
Daniel was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 16, 1929. He grew up in the near suburbs of Cleveland where he attended elementary and high school. After high school graduation, he was accepted to Western Reserve University where he majored in voice and music performance. During college, Daniel became a substitute organist for select churches in the Cleveland Catholic Diocese.
After college, Daniel served his country as a veteran of the Korean War.
After returning stateside, Daniel became the organist, as well as the director of the men's and boys' choir at Saint Wenceslaus church in Maple Heights. It was in Maple Heights where Daniel and his wife Lillian (nee Adams) raised their three children: Lillian Jr., Daniel Jr., and Michael (deceased).
In addition to being Saint Wenceslaus church organist, Daniel taught music to all grades of the adjoining Saint Wenceslaus grade school. Additionally, Daniel was a private piano teacher. Through his many years as a church organist, teacher, and musician, Daniel impacted the lives of countless families, clergy and students.
In his later years, Daniel retired to Columbia Park in Olmsted Township where he lived many years with his devoted wife. Daniel Sr. is survived by his daughter Lillian; daughter-in-law Susie; and by his oldest son Daniel and his wife Cynthia and their daughter Claire.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 3pm to 7pm, at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070
