Daniel James Steffen

Daniel James Steffen, 80 years old, of Fort Thomas, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

Dan was loved by all who knew him. He was a lifelong Fort Thomas resident and attended St. Catherine of Siena for elementary school and is a1963 graduate Newport Catholic High School. Throughout his life he continued to attend Mass at St. Catherine of Siena and enjoyed being a member of the Southgate Optimist Club, Campbell County Democratic Men's Club, Newport Elks, and Veterans and Friends Coffee Club. Dan worked for nearly 30 years as a Residential Treatment Specialist at NorthKey Hospital. He will be loved, missed and cherished by family, friends and the community.

Dan was born July 20, 1945 in Covington, KY to the late Daniel Charles Steffen and Wilma (nee: James) Steffen.

Dan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol (nee: Schaetzle) Steffen, his 6 children Lisa (Jim) Lyman, Lori (Joel) Hazelwood, Mark Steffen, Jason (Hollyce) Steffen, Jamee (Craig) Nickelman, Michael (Katie) Steffen, 19 grandchildren, Tim, Tom, Kym, Joe, Jeff, Macey, Brady, Brett, Ashley, Holden, Huntley, Layton, Carlee, Brendan, Kennedy, Logan, Ryan, Jillian & Chelsea, along with 4 great grandchildren, Paislee, Kinslee, Colby & Blake.

Visitation 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, 427 South Ft. Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am, Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Fort Thomas, Kentucky, with Rev. Stef Bankemper, officiating.
