Daniel Joseph Sweeney, 37, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Monday October 13, 2025. Daniel who battled for a long time with the disease of addiction is finally at peace. Daniel was born on September 24, 1988 in Bogota, Colombia. He was adopted by his parents William Richard Sweeney and Elise Perier-Sweeney on December 27, 1988.
Daniel is survived by his father and mother, his sister Jennifer Hiltner, brother Patrick Sweeney, and his three daughters Carlie Rae Ford, Alyssa Greer, and Liliana Sweeney.
Daniel spent his early years in Kwajalein, Marshall Islands where his father worked at a radar installation in the Pacific Ocean. Daniel was a funny and engaging child who captured everyone's attention with his personality and humor.
Daniel moved to Ashburn, VA where he was very active in all sports including baseball, basketball, and soccer.
Daniel was a tattoo artist. He was a talented artist and guitar player. He had a strong sense of justice and was a fierce protector of the underdog. He was loving and kind and grateful. He was a great lover of Batman.
Daniel is an organ donor. His two kidneys, liver, and lungs will be used to save lives.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Monday October 27 at 10 AM at Purcellvile Baptist Church at 601 Yaxley Drive, Purcellville, VA 20132.

I have very fond memories of playing pickle ball up basketball with Dan after church when we were in middle school. He was kind and funny, and he seemed really cool to me as a 12 year old - and I envied that. Sad to hear he´s not around anymore, but I hope he´s found peace.
