Daniel Arthur Triest, 72, passed away on June 1, 2025, peacefully in his home in South Bend, Indiana. Born on March 5, 1953, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Walter and Betty (Leonard) Triest. Dan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness and humor touched many lives.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diana Lynn (Prawat) Triest, as well as his children, Nicholas (Jessica) Triest, Patrick (Denise) Triest and Lauren (Thomas) Bloss, grandchildren, Adelynn, Christopher, Jude, Josephine and Matthew Triest; Beckett, Walker and Sloane Triest; Julian, Maxwell, Sophia, Henry and Theodore Bloss, siblings and extended family who carry on his legacy. He was preceded in death by his father Walter, his mother Betty, and his son Christopher.
Daniel owned a successful office cleaning business and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to helping others. He loved meeting people and if he met you once, he remembered you always. In his free time, Daniel loved to fish with his sons and enjoyed that time on the water. He also loved the energy of the casino, while spending time with his family and friends. Sports played a big role in his life, especially when it came to his children; he took great pride in attending their games, coaching, and being their biggest fan. His family, especially his grandchildren, brought joy to his life until the very end.
A loyal fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Chicago Cubs, he never missed a game, often calling his kids to discuss the outcome. Dan approached life with hope, energy, and a deep sense of community. His warmth and generosity will be remembered by all who knew him.
A visitation for Daniel will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, In Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St, Mishawaka, with the Rosary to be recited at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christion Burial will take place at St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami St, South Bend, on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
