Daniel Trusz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sweet's Funeral Home on Jan. 29, 2026.
Daniel "Danny" Trusz, 64, of the Town of Clinton, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026, at his home.

Born February 5, 1961 in New York City, he was the son of the late John Trusz and Gladys Woods-Trusz.

Danny retired from Dutchess BOCES in Poughkeepsie NY in 2023 following 25 years of service in their Facilities and Operations Department.

A wonderful caring husband, loyal friend, and giving neighbor, he was kind to everyone, God-loving, and a doggie-daddy. Danny was both loving, and loved by all who knew him.

Dan was a proud volunteer member of the West Clinton Fire District for many years. He always enjoyed every opportunity to be of service to his community, co-workers, family, friends, and neighbors.

He loved the outdoors, the sounds of nature, the chirping of the birds, and watching the deer visiting his home.

A man of great faith, Dan was a long time member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Hyde Park, as well as Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church in Pleasant Valley.

He always shared an encouraging word with everyone he met. He lived a life of gratitude for the many blessings he received, and actively looked for opportunities to serve others, always with a ready smile.

On April 7, 1991 he married the love of his life, his wife Denise, at Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park.

Most importantly to him were his faith in the Lord, his wife of 34 years Denise, and his loving dog Mona Lisa, who always brought a twinkle to his eye.

In addition to them, Danny is survived by his brothers John Trusz of Syracuse, NY, William Trusz of Atlanta, GA, his brother-in-law Kurt Hornick of Hyde Park, NY, and his stepmother Judith Trusz of Hyde Park.

The family has opted for cremation, and a memorial service to be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Dutchess County SPCA of Hyde Park at dcspca.org in Danny's memory.

Danny was our guide as we tramped through the woods and fields around Weezer´s pond looking for the best place to set up camp. I´m glad he successfully navigated his way through life, kept the faith and married the love of his life. Danny was someone special.
