Daniel Valdez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castillo Funeral Home on Feb. 11, 2026.
Daniel L. Valdez, born 10-03-1933 in Eagle Pass, Texas to Feliciano and Angelica Valdez, passed into the Kingdom of Heaven, peacefully, at home surrounded by his family, including his wife of 71 years, Aurora C. Valdez.

After graduation from Eagle Pass high school, he was drafted into the Army, and was deployed to the Korean War. On discharge, he graduated as an electronics technician and was employed with civil service at Kelly Air Force Base. Attending college nights and weekends, he achieved an associate's degree from San Antonio college and subsequently a dual bachelor of arts from our Lady of the Lake University. He advanced to production management where he remained until his retirement. He continued as a consultant with the Air Force for several years, while also teaching and tutoring in the YWCA afterschool program. In that position he helped many preteens improve scholastic skills and grades. He was also very proud of being 32° Mason.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother and spouse, Felix Valdez and Guadalupe Valdez, brother-in-law Eugenio Gonzalez, as well as daughter-in-law Rebecca Cuellar Valdez and grandson Benjamin Abel Valdez

He is survived by his sons, Daniel Valdez MD (Patricia Winter-Valdez MD), Ben Valdez (Awilda Cartagena), Abel Valdez (Michelle Fox). Grandchildren, Veronica Camarillo (Hippolito Camarillo), Daniel D. Valdez (Chelsea Rae), Jacob E. Valdez (Gina Moncada), and Patricia E. Valdez. Great grandchildren, Michelle Berry Valdez (Miguel Ibarra), and Lily Trust Valdez. He is also survived by older brother, David Valdez, older sister Naomi Valdez, younger brother Moises Valdez, and younger sister Anita Galvan (Oscar Galvan). Additionally, by numerous nieces, nephews, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews and many friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.

Daniel Valdez was a President of Deacons at First Mexican Baptist Church for 15 years. He was also Deacon and music director at Alta Vista Baptist Mission, and Lakeview Baptist Church, and he was founding member and director of Agape Baptist Church.

Special thanks to the staff of Holy Savior Hospice & Palliative Care, and especially Javier Benavides for his kind, caring assistance that went far beyond the anticipated.
