Daniel Wells Obituary

Yorktown, Daniel Lee Wells, known to most simply as Dan, passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 42. He was born April 10, 1983 in Yorktown.

Dan loved big and worked hard. His children were the very center of his universe, and everything he did was for his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving son, and a loyal brother; roles he carried with deep pride and unwavering love, which showed through his actions every single day. A true free spirit, Dan was the life of the party. Someone who knew no stranger and was always willing to lend a (big) hand. Years of roughneckin' may have callused his hands, but his heart was made of pure gold and was bigger than most.

Dan found joy in the simple things that made life good: old Ford trucks, his Victory Highball, fishing and hunting, and spending time with the people he loved. He had a way of making others feel welcome, heard, and at home, no matter where he was.

Dan will be remembered for his laughter, his generosity, his grit, and his unwavering love for his family. His absence leaves a space that can never be filled, and he will be missed beyond magnitude by all who knew and loved him.

Daniel was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph "Joey" Major Wells; his grandparents Barbra and George Howse, Dorris Hain, John Wells, and Don Hain; his uncles Mike Wells, Steve Wells, and Wilburn "Corky" McLane; his aunt Janus Wiese; and his cousin Darrell McLane.

He is survived by his wife, Casey Lea Wells; his children Braden Lee Wells, EmmaLea Jean Wells, Levi Joseph Wells, Austin Lee Siegfried, Hannah Vaught, and Chase Vaught; his loving mother Cindy Wells; his father Tom Wells; his siblings William Wells and Shiela Wells; his aunts Sandy, Audrey, Jenny, Donna, and Janice; his uncles Marvin, Jerry, Lance, and Ray; his nieces Trishell, Mataya, Allandra, Rheanna, Brielle, Rylee, and Neveah; his nephews Preston, Jacob, Parker, Jaxson, Slade, Devdan, Ethan, and Grant; and many beloved cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1458 County Rd 406, El Campo, TX 77437, with a visitation with the family from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by the Memorial Service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Dinner and a time of fellowship will follow immediately after the service.

While flowers are greatly appreciated, memorial donations are requested to support the family.

We look forward to celebrating the BIG life of Big Dan with all the people he loved. A time to gather, remember, and share the wonderful and wild stories that so often had Dan right at the center of them.
