Daniel J. "Mad Dog" Wonder, Jr., 63 of Hanover passed away peacefully at Hanover Hospital on Friday, December 19, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Wanda M. (Gladfelter) Wonder.

Born April 3, 1962, he was a son of Mary E. (Wherley) Gibbons and the late Daniel J. "Song Bird" Wonder, Sr. and his late stepfather, James "Papaw" Gibbons.

Known to his family and friends as "Mad Dog" and "Beer Can Dan", Mr. Wonder was a truck driver by trade, employed by JVI Group in Dillsburg, and a racing enthusiast at heart. His #24 Thundercar will always be remembered by all. In addition to race cars, Daniel enjoyed building / restoring street rods and classics, including his prized 1949 F-150. His most recent project was a 1968 Mustang for his beloved wife Wanda. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting and fishing. He also had a very active social life and was a member of various organizations, including NSC Cruisers Car Club, the WFW, American Legion, McSherrystown Moose, McSherrystown Fish & Game, AMVETS, Hanover Home Association, Hanover Eagles and the New Oxford Social Club.

In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by his stepmother, Ann (Robinson) Wonder; three children: Brandy N. Gurreri and fiancé Brian McDaniel, Jr. of York, Daniel J. Wonder III and wife Angel of Castlewood, VA and Evan J. Wonder and wife Brooke of Hanover; two stepchildren: Brandi K. Kreiner and husband Will of Hanover and Stepson Devin W. Kress and girlfriend Katie of Exton, PA; five siblings: Barry L. Wonder of York, Wendy M. Brady and husband John "Buff" of McSherrystown, Roger A. Wonder and wife Lisa of New Oxford, Richard S. "Whiskey" Wonder and fiancé Tina of Spring Grove and Robin Dillow and husband Richard of Chambersburg; six grandchildren: Alysia, Brynn, Brook, Sullivan, Amelia and Blake; one great-grandson, Weston, as well as his faithful German Shepherd, Trikester.

In addition to his father and stepfather, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ralph & Dora Wherley and his paternal grandparents, George & Bertha Wonder.

A funeral service to celebrate Daniel's life will be held on Friday, December 26th at 11am at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover with Blaine Gladfelter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Dubs Church Cemetery in Hanover. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will also be on Friday at the funeral home from 9am until the start of the service.
