Dannie Putteet Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 28, 2025.
Dannie L. Putteet, 77, of Lavonia, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 17, 2025.

Born on November 29, 1947, in Richmond, Kentucky, Dannie was the beloved son of the late Roscoe and Cleo (Chadwell) Putteet. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, a service that shaped his character and commitment to others.

On July 23, 2009, Dannie married Diane Putteet, with whom he shared many happy years. He was a skilled electrician, employed by Gladeux in Fort Wayne and later retiring from Walbro in Ossian in May 2021. Dannie took great pride in his craft and was known for his attention to detail.

Dannie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He found great joy in spending time with his family and friends, whether it was on the golf course, at the grill barbequing (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), or tending to his meticulously maintained lawn (for which he won several awards). His warmth, humor, and steadfast support will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; his three daughters from his first marriage to Michelle (DesJean) Knerr, Adrienne Putteet of Chicago, IL, Andrea Putteet of Westminster, CA, and Allison Kinney of Enosburg Falls, VT; three stepsons, Justin Smith, Austin Smith, and William Martin; two stepdaughters, Sara Smith and Hannah Martin; brothers Doug and Ronnie Putteet both of Decatur; 24 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dannie was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Cleo; three brothers, Willie Putteet, Charles Putteet, and Paul Hodge; his stepdaughter, Libby Martin; and a grandchild.

A private memorial service is being planned for the family.

Dannie's legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family and friends will continue to inspire all who knew him.
