Danniel Lynn Rosen, 56, of Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at UPMC Chautauqua.
A lifelong area resident, she was born in Jamestown on July 26, 1969, to Patricia Trusso Rosen and the late Merrill G. Rosen.
Danniel graduated from Jamestown Public Schools and attended Jamestown Community College Distant Learning. Further, she graduated from the Institute for the Achievement of Human Potential in Philadelphia, PA.
Her heart was the brightest light that did so much good throughout the world. From 1999-2006, Danniel was featured on national posters for 'Unlocking Autism.' She was also highlighted throughout Autism Congressional Hearings in Washington, DC that escalated into newsworthy stories on CSPAN. Various local, state, and national newspapers emphasized Danniel's name to enlighten the public on facts within autism spectrum disorder.
Traveling was a joy for Danniel. With her family, she voyaged to Europe, Philadelphia, New Orleans, and the Caribbean Islands. Her love for adventure was sustained in her adoration for learning about history: locally, nationally, and across the world. Going for rides offered her the excitement of familiarizing herself with local names like Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson and Gov. Reuben Fenton.
The water, too, brought Danniel great success and peace. Along with her daily swim therapy in her own saltwater pool, she was a research assistant with the pilot program for the Dolphin Pet Bonding Program in Niagara Falls. For three months, Danniel swam with dolphins Gabrielle and Misty.
An avid reader, Danniel forever had her nose in historical books as well as nonfiction and fiction titles alike. She was especially fond of reading with her dear sister, Becky. Danniel's photographic memory was impeccable, as her intellect taught so many people to not judge a book by its cover.
To her sister, Becky, Danniel was her best sister and her best friend. She taught her so much about life and about people; distinctly, Danniel's ability to read people well guided Becky many times.
Danniel loved her two favorite burros, Baba and Baby Ba. She even had a Belgium horse, "Big," who developed steadfast and fierce loyalty over her.
For her incredible spirit, there was nothing Danniel couldn't do. She played the piano and organ while also taking pride in driving her golf cart.
Danniel surrounded herself by a close-knit family who was her world; just the same, she was their world. Since Danniel was 2 years old, her mother, father, and sister were the driving forces behind massive amounts of rehabilitation therapy for her. As her advocates, intensive childhood physical, occupational, and sensory therapies blended into synchronous caregiving for one another up until the very end.
56 years of Danniel's life engrossed her in occupational and physical therapies, as implemented by her tenacious mother, father, and sister. For 54 years, the family traveled to the Institute for the Achievement of Human Potential and The Autistic Unit/Dr. Carl Delicato for a week at a time, guided by world renown neurologists and therapists. Only a select group of children with brain injuries were accepted into the groundbreaking program, as highlighted in medical journals of the 1970s. It is only due to Danniel's family's persistent advocacy that she thrived so beautifully for so many years.
Profoundly, as the family returned home, these therapies were carried out by hundreds of volunteers throughout the county. A truly special volunteer worker and family friend, Mary Nowell Ceci Henning, will be forever cherished by Danniel's family.
Scott was not only a big brother to Danniel, but her constant buddy since 1986 who was always by her side. Scott stepped right in and, without hesitation, Danniel's eyes sparkled, especially when they watched the Andy Griffith Show together.
Danniel will be dearly missed by her mother, Patricia Trusso Rosen, and her sister, Rebecca (Scott) Davis. Danniel always came first.
She was preceded in death by her father, Merrill G. Rosen, who passed away July 25, 2022.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
