Danny Barton

Danny Edward Barton, age 69 of Packwaukee passed away peacefully at Lily Meadows Assisted Living in Westfield on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 surrounded by family. Danny was born in Portage on October 7, 1955 to Lyle and Nora (Dove) Barton. He grew up in Packwaukee and attended Montello Schools and went on to proudly serve his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard. Danny was united in marriage to Tara Mussey and together they had three children and later divorced.

Danny worked for many years at PIC Plastics (now known as Spartech) and was proud to own and operate Dan Barton Trucking; in his later years he enjoyed his time as a gun salesman at Ace Hardware in Portage. In his spare time, Danny enjoyed hunting, fishing and remote controlled planes. Many knew Danny for his competitive spirit as an avid ice racer which he truly loved to do with his father. Above all else, it was his family that brought him the most joy and he will be remembered for his kindness and sense of humor.

Danny is survived by his three children: Shannon (Jessica) of Harrisville, Desirae (Matt) Slotten of Harrisville and Lyle of Harrisville as well as six grandchildren: Austin (Grace), Alex (girlfriend, Taylor), Iris (Alex), Talon (girlfriend, Lydia), Cole (girlfriend, Nadia) and Kylie. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Kaeden, Oliver, and Emelia along with his two sisters: Sandy (Bruce) Brown and Brenda (Al) Pulver, the mother of his children and other extended family members.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service for Danny Barton will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 3:00 PM at The First Presbyterian Church of Packwaukee. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. His sister, Pastor Brenda Pulver will officiate the service and inurnment with full military honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Town of Packwaukee. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family for a memorial that will be established in Danny’s name.
