Danny Best Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tyndall Funeral Home - Mount Olive on Dec. 30, 2025.
Danny Kay Best, Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones, while being cared for at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
A native of Warsaw, NC, and a graduate of James Kenan High School, Danny was a resident of Faison for over 40 years. He was a devoted family man whose life was marked by hard work, loyalty, and love for those closest to him. Known for his strong work ethic, as well as being a MacGyver at heart, Danny took pride in providing for his family and loved ones, through endless projects and supporting his children and grandchildren in countless ball games and other events. Over the years, he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of those who knew him. Professionally, Danny was a Line and Serviceman with Progress Energy, (now Duke Energy) for 33 years, where he was respected for his commitment and reliability, before retiring. Danny will be remembered for his sarcasm, quick wit, humor, strength, generosity, and his love of family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin Best and Vina Best; and his siblings, Jessie Best, Jerry Best, Billy Best, Boyce Best, Shelby Driver, Marleen Starnes, and Clara Bell Ray.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Janice Hines Best of Faison; his children, Kimberly Best Teachey of Rose Hill, Dan Best (Heather) of Warsaw, and Shanna Cash (WG) of Dudley; and his grandchildren, Zack Teachey and fiancée Hannah of Wisconsin, Harley and fiancée Kaleb of Dudley, Brenna and Porter Best of Warsaw, and Tonya Cash of Wilmington. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Strickland of Warsaw, along with a multitude of extended family members who will forever cherish his memory.
A service of love and remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Faison Methodist Church. A time of fellowship and visitation with the family will follow the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Faison Fire and Rescue, Faison Methodist Abundance Food Program, or to a charity close to ones heart in Danny's Memory.
