Danny Marvin “Hillbilly” Black, 73, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at UK-St. Claire HealthCare.
He was born on May 6, 1951 in Morehead, Kentucky, a son of the late Marvin Clay Black and Audrey Jean Eldridge Black.
Danny was born and raised in Morehead but the majority of his adult life was spent working in the oil fields of Texas and Louisiana. He knew the back roads and bayous probably better than some of the people who lived there. He loved to fish and could be found many a day watching his Westerns and drinking coffee. Everyone was a friend and to his extended family and friends down South, he was affectionately known as “Hillbilly”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Royse Black, his brother, Billy Ray Black and three sisters, Charlotte Lois Stidom, Shirley Mae Black and Kathy Jean Black.
Survivors include his daughter, Jessica Dixon and her husband, Richard of Clearfield, Kentucky, his granddaughter, Elizabeth Charlene Dixon and her companion, Nate Clayton of Clearfield, one nephew, Kyle Stidom and great-nephew, Crew Stidom of Centennial, Colorado and special companion and caregiver, Mickey Jennings.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 20, 2024 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Brother Jack Hinton officiating.
Private burial will be in the Catron Cemetery in Elliott County.
Visitation is after 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
