On February 21, 2026, Danny Lynn Blackburn, Sr's faith was made sight when he was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior whom he loved with his whole heart, mind, and soul; lived to glorify; and faithfully served until the very end.

Dan was born in Marlow, Oklahoma on November 28, 1942 to Dwight Moody and May Cleo Blackburn. He was the youngest of five children including three brothers, Don, Jerry, and Jimmy and sister Linda. Dan's siblings affectionately nicknamed him "Sonny Boy". He was the grandson of two Indian Territory Baptist preachers and farmers. In 1960, he graduated as an honor student from Marlow High where he served on the student council, ran track and played the drum in the Outlaw Marching Band. Following high school, Dan enlisted in the Army Reserves and was stationed at Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri as a supply clerk and commended rifle sharpshooter.

In 1962, Dan began a successful 29 year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company while juggling college classes. Dan married Freddie Mae Hudson on January 21, 1964. They were blessed with three children (Mollie, Sara, and Danny Jr) and twenty-three years of marriage until Freddie's death in 1987. Together they worked hard while raising their family to see Dan graduate with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration in 1968 from Oklahoma City University. As a young father, Dan could be found coaching softball and baseball, meticulously maintaining Bartlesville's little league fields, teaching Sunday School, and fervently praying for the salvation of their children.

Dan advanced his career starting in part-time custodial services moving to climbing telephone poles with many additional promotions, culminating in his final position as District Manager of Engineering. Their journey included six job related relocations, six different Baptist churches in as many cities; and retirement in 1991 as a highly respected leader and creative complex problem solver. After retirement at SWB, Dan continued his career in telecommunications as a fiber network design consultant for the federal government and private institutions until following in his grandfathers' footsteps and transitioning into lay ministry including everything from serving as an ordained deacon, coordinating the church bus ministry, serving on the chainsaw crew with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team, and lending a loving, helping hand however, whenever and wherever he could.

On July 2, 1990, Dan married Marilyn Hinkle Sturm. They were drawn to one another through a mutual love for God's Word and family. They enjoyed many years traveling, serving others, and spending time with their six children, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. They would have celebrated thirty-five years of marriage in July.

Dan made the most of his days. He enjoyed time with God through studying His Word and exploring His creation. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener and received great joy in sharing these hobbies with his siblings, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. All who knew and loved Dan, knew he had a great sense of humor and loved pulling off a good prank.

Dan was a kind-hearted, and ALL IN humble servant exemplified by his unending thankfulness for God's mercy and grace. By God's goodness and loving-kindness, Dan passed peacefully in his sleep.

Preceded in death by his father and mother, Dwight Moody and May Cleo Blackburn; his wife and the mother of his three children, Freddie Mae Hudson; his brothers Don Blackburn, Jerry Blackburn, and Jimmy Blackburn.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hinkle Blackburn; his sister, Linda Jannette Scott; his daughter, Mollie Andrews (Don Andrews); daughter, Sara Cowman (Chris Cowman); son, Danny Blackburn Jr.; his stepdaughters, Steva Stand, Shanda Grogan, and Sharla Langster (Jim Langster); grandchildren, Kate Andrews Evenson (Charlie), Maddie Andrews Brady (Pierce), Claire Cowman Cressionnie (Matt), Carter Cowman (Falon), Cole Cowman (Kamryn), Trenton Stand (Kaci), Blayden Stand; and great-grandchildren, Sutton Cowman, Gage, Kaya, Kena, Avian and Nakayda Stand, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dan's memory to the Washington-Osage Baptist Disaster Relief Association or Samaritan's Purse.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 27th at First Baptist Church Bartlesville. Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Walker Brown Chapel.
