Danny Ray Britt, Sr., 80, of
Chadbourn, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and devotion to family.
Born on August 10, 1945, in Robeson County, Danny was the son of the late Robert Britt and Nina Rae Fields Britt. Danny was preceded in death by his beloved wife and the love of his life, Carol Bullard Britt, who passed away in 2000. After 26 years apart, Danny has now been joyfully reunited with Carol, a reunion his family finds comfort in knowing was promised through faith in Christ.
The family will receive friends January 9, 2026 beginning at 10:00 at Worthington Funeral Home. Services will begin at 11:00 with burial to follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery
A lifelong resident of Columbus County, he was deeply rooted in his community and well known for his integrity, generosity, and strong work ethic. Danny attended Campbell University and began his career working at Waccamaw Bank followed by National Spinning. He later fulfilled his entrepreneurial spirit as the longtime owner of Dixie Farm Supply in Chadbourn. A man of deep and abiding faith, Danny was a lifetime member of Corinth Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. His commitment to the church and his love for the Lord were evident through his service, leadership, and steady example to others. Even after retirement, Danny continued working at Pawn South in Chadbourn, never one to sit still for long. When he wasn't working, Danny could often be found doing what he loved most on the golf course or hunting and fishing. He was proud to be one of 12 previous owners of Land O' Lakes Golf Course in Whiteville. A place where many friendships were formed and memories made.
He is survived by his children, Danny Ray Britt, Jr. (Jackie) of Greenville and Leigh Ann Britt Pate (John) of Marietta NC; his cherished grandchildren, Anna Pate Jenkins (William), Chloe Pate Young (Jacob), and John Thomas Pate III. Danny was also a proud great-grandfather to Thayer James Young.
Siblings include Randy Britt (Mary) of Whiteville and Terry Britt (Beverly) of Sunset Beach.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Corinth Baptist Church, 3576 Old US Hwy 76,
Chadbourn, NC 28431.
Special thanks to William Thompson and Johnny Peal for the love, friendship, and unwavering support shown to Danny. Danny's life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and love for family. He will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and the way he showed up for those he loved. While he will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in knowing he is now at peace, restored, and reunited with his bride in eternal life.
