Gary Lynn Payne, 69, of Thomasville, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Hospice Home of High Point.
Born August 3, 1956, he was a son of the late James Clifton Payne and the late Martha Grace Butler Payne. In September 1977, he married the former Patricia Barham.
Gary obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Campbell University in 1981, and following he spent years on the mission field in Cardiff Wales throughout the 80’s. He also served as the Pastor for Green Valley Baptist Church in Lebanon, VA for numerous years. After a life rooted in Christian faith, his earthly journey is finished and he is now with Jesus, his Lord and Savior.
Left to cherish his memory; wife, Patricia Payne; son, Phillip Payne and wife Whitley of Meadowview, VA; daughter, Sarah Madison and husband Phil of Trinity; grandchildren, Stephen Madison, Lydia Madison, Benjamin Madison, Hannah Payne and Samuel Payne; and his brother, Clifton Payne.
