Danny Carpenter, 74, of Niles, died peacefully January 27, 2026 in the comfort of his family’s presence.
His life began February 20, 1951 in Mishawaka, Indiana. Danny was the youngest of sixteen children born to Orville and Agnes Carpenter. He married Sandra Ullmer on December 16, 1968.
Danny was a natural born artist. He enjoyed woodworking, painting and drawing. Danny and Sandy would travel Michigan looking for the perfect fishing spot. He could often be found snacking on buttermilk and potato chips, and he loved a good cup of coffee. He was a quiet man, but could tell an amazing story.
Danny will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 57 years Sandy, of Niles; three daughters, Beverly (Robert) Symonds of Dowagiac, Sandra Imus, of Niles, Teresa (the late Jim) Smock, of Niles; one son, Daniel (Chrystal Appleton) Carpenter, of Cassopolis; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death by many loved ones.
The family will observe a private remembrance. Danny will be laid to rest in Smith Chapel cemetery.
