Danny Drake Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 30, 2026.
Danny E. Drake, age 68, of Marion, passed away at his home on Tuesday morning, January 27, 2026.

Danny was born on April 9, 1957, in Paintsville, Kentucky, a son of the late Donald Lee and Sarah Katherine (Stapleton) Drake. He attended Highland High School through the 11th grade before answering the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. Danny proudly served for three years and earned his GED during his time in the Navy.

Following his military service, Danny worked as a machinist in several shops over the years. He was a man who appreciated life's simple pleasures, spending time outdoors mowing his lawn, picking berries, and visiting with family. Some of his favorite memories were made on trips back to Kentucky, especially visiting his Uncle Robert's place, where he enjoyed fishing and the comfort of familiar surroundings. Danny was known as a kind, likable soul who lived a simple life.

Danny is survived by three sisters: Kathy Drake of Mount Gilead, Rhonda (Thomas) Kincaid of Cardington, Sharon (Greg) Obando of Lake Elsinore, CA; nieces and nephews: Dustin, Thomas "Russ", Joshua (Lindsay) Rebecca, Shandale, Thrisa (Toni); many great nieces and nephews; an uncle, Robert Stapleton of KY; and two aunts, Margie Stapleton of TX, and Pearl (Gene) Stapleton of KY.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Simones.
