Danny T. Hanning

Danny T. Hanning, 68 of Huntsville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born on June 18, 1957, in Rushville, IL, to the late Glen and Mary (Bovey) Hanning. He married his wife of fifty years, Janet, on August 24, 1975, in Huntsville at his parents' home. She survives. He is also survived by his children, Brandy (Jamie) Orr, Becky (Tom) Luttrell, Sarah (Luke) Hanning-Ludwig, and Andy (Kayla) Hanning; seven grandchildren, Danielle Siegel, Taylor Siegel, Megan Campbell, Madelynn Hanning, and Abigail, Garrett, and Troy Hanning; four great grandchildren, Maddison Phillips, Fletcher Hornung, Everleigh Hanning, Matthew Hanning-Linze; his siblings, Bonnie Hanning, Peggy Dillon, Nancy Willis, and Rob Hanning; several nieces and nephews; and his close companion, Elsa Mae the Blue Tick Hound. Danny was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Ryan and Gunnar Hanning, two other grandchildren; great grandson, Owen Hornung; and many beloved coon hounds and friends.

Danny was a beloved husband, Dad, Papa, Uncle, and friend to many. His grandkids and great grandkids were the light of his life. He enjoyed deer and coon hunting, mushroom hunting, and four-wheeler, tractor and side by side rides. He had a lifelong love for learning and still enjoyed hunting for rocks and artifacts sometimes, a hobby he picked up from his parents.

His favorite time of the year was harvest and he was devoted to his family farm. He raised cattle and hogs all his life, and whatever other animals his kids and grandkids wanted to have. Danny grew corn, soybeans, and grains and baled thousands of bales of hay.

Danny began his second career as Huntsville Township Highway Commissioner in 1989 and continued to hold that position up to the time of his death. He was dedicated to making sure his roads were the best they could be, and he was passionate about the importance of local government. He joined the TOI Board of Directors in 2008 and served on the Executive Board in 2016, through two terms as President in 2016 and 2022. He also served on the Township Highway Commissioners Board for several years.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 4-6 p.m. at Worthington Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 19, at 11:00 a.m. with Dixie Croxton officiating. Memorials may be given to Brown County Hunters Association, Rushville FFA or Township Officials of Illinois Scholarship Fund.
