Judith Nation Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Worthington Funeral Home - Rushville from Feb. 1 to Feb. 2, 2026.
After courageously battling cancer for five years, with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Judith Ann Nation on Sunday, January 25, at her beloved son's home in Sparta, TN. She was 83 years old.

She was born on March 27, 1942, to John and Mary Stone in Beardstown, IL. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Nation, in 2000, and her brother-in-law, Mitchell Corey, in 2019. She is survived by her only son, John (Maureen) Nation of Sparta, TN; one granddaughter, Lisa (Derek) Hunter; and two great-grandsons, Daniel and Logan, of Hamburg, AK; one sister, Sue Corey, of Macomb, IL; nieces Kim (Scott) Smith of Macomb, IL, and Darcy (Christian) Holmer of Hilton Head Island, SC; three great-nephews, Cordell (Heather) Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, and Sebastian and Ethan Holmer of Orlando, FL; and six much-loved Egbert cousins.

Judy graduated from Rushville High School in 1960 and Brown's Business School in 1962. She worked as a secretary for the State of Illinois in Springfield for thirty-five years. She wrote shorthand and typed with unbelievable speed and accuracy, and everybody she worked with loved her. In 1999, her co-workers took her to a St. Louis Cardinals game by bus and had her retirement announced on the big neon sign.

She never met a stranger and always took the time to have a conversation with the people she met. She loved her family with all her heart, and we feel so blessed to have had her in our lives.

A funeral service will be held at Worthington Funeral Home, 331 W Washington St., Rushville, IL 62681, on Saturday, April 11, at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Eddy, pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Macomb, IL, will officiate. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Rushville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Lisa Hunter for the grandsons' education fund, Victory Baptist Church, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
