Danny Joe Howard "Dan" was born on Thursday, November 24, 1949 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Wednesday, June 25th, 2025 at Mineral Wells, Texas at the age of 75.
Dan is preceded in death by parents Gerald and Ora Howard, brothers Roger and Tom Howard, nephews Samual Curtis, Seth Jacob (Jake), Sam, and niece Stephanie.
He is survived by wife of 45 years Lynne of Atlanta, Texas, and children Jay Howard and wife Alyson of Fouke, Arkansas, Devin Dvorak and husband Michael of Burleson, Texas, Dustye Howard of Ft. Worth, Texas, also Danette Howard of Lindale, Texas, and Krista Howard of Mineral Wells, Texas; grandchildren Talyn and McCain Howard and Cate and Claire Dvorak; and Dan's siblings Sam Howard (Sharon), JR Howard, John Howard, Mary Howard, Wanda Roderick, and Pete Howard (Jill).
Dan spent most of his life moving around Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico working with horses as a Trainer and Farrier (Horse Shoer). He was thought of and respected as a highly skilled horseman with a special relationship with horses. Those who knew Dan were drawn to his wildly charismatic personality and colorful sense of humor. Despite his efforts, most couldn't help but love him fondly and enjoy the entertainment he provided. He will be missed.
Family hour will begin at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 30th at Brown's Funeral Home in Durant with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM in Brown's Funeral chapel. Bro. Luke Howard will officiate. Committal services will follow at Stewart Gammon Cemetery in Caney with Shane Howard, Casey Howard, Cody Howard, Bain Howard, Jackson Howard, and McCain Howard serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Denny Halcomb, Stephen Loftis, and Mike Snowden.
