Danny Ray Jones, age 70, husband of Janice Fisher Jones, and a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at St. Thomas West.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Ricky Cotton officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and again on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 24, 1955, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Danny was the son of the late Pruitt Jones and the late Christine Graves Jones. On August 17, 1974, he married Janice, and together they were blessed with two children. Danny worked for many years as a custodian with the Maury County Board of Education until becoming disabled in 2009. In his younger years, he enjoyed coaching girl’s fast pitch softball in Columbia.
Danny loved hunting, fishing, and going out to eat, and he was a devoted UT Vols fan. He had a heart for helping others and took great joy in organizing gospel singings at his church. Above all, he cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a faithful member of Cool Springs Missionary Baptist Church, where he proudly served as a deacon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Amy (Malcolm) Hinson, Steven (Liz) Jones, grandchildren, Penny (Jason) Hill, Samantha (Phil) Veale, Brianna (Tucker) Cantrell, Brooklyn Watkins (Mykah Secrest), Jade Spaulding, Makenna Spaulding, Brayden (Briannah) Jones, Connor Jones, Tucker Jones, great grandchildren, Aubree Hill, Isaiah Hill, Colson Hill, Hudson Hill, Addalyn Henry, Jettson Cantrell, Miles Cantrell, and one great grandchild on the way.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Tucker Cantrell, Tucker Jones, Brayden Jones, Connor Jones, Phil Veale, Mykah Secrest, and Isaiah Hill.
