Danny Magelitz Obituary
Meredosia - Danny E. Magelitz, 71, of Meredosia, Illinois, died Wednesday, September 10, 2025, while on vacation in Colorado.
He was born April 20, 1954, in Jacksonville, the son of Harry and Maxine (Rausch) Magelitz.
Danny married Carleen Knop of Steeleville, IL, on August 4, 1979, and she survives in Meredosia. They had four children; Brian (Shaye) of Bluffs, John (Candace) of Alexandria, VA, Carolyn (Mark) Umbricht of Raleigh, NC, and Michael of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by two grandsons, Sean Magelitz of Arenzville and Zach Magelitz of Bluffs; two brothers, David (Judy) Magelitz and Robert (Ellen) Magelitz, both of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Magelitz was a Lutheran School Teacher for six years and then became an accountant for twenty-six years. After he retired six years ago, he spent his life devoted to Christ. He was a longtime active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, and served of the Board of Directors for the Central Illinois District of the Lutheran Church.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Salem Lutheran Church with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Neelyville.. The family will meet friends 4-6 P.M. Friday September 19, 2025, at the church and 9-10:15 A.M. prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial donations are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church, where he was an active member. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of the service. Condolences are suggested to buchanancody.com.
