Danny Rivera Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomason Funeral Home - Lockhart on Mar. 3, 2026.
Danny Rivera, 79, of Austin, Texas, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026. Born in Gonzales, Texas, he was the son of Alvaro Rivera and Teresa Vasquez Rivera.

Our sweet dad and loving husband was the strongest man we knew. His faith was steady and unwavering, and his love for his family was the center of his life. He was a simple man who didn't need much - just his family close by, a good game on TV, a set of dominoes on the table, and music playing in the background. If a favorite song came on, you could count on him singing along. His smile brought joy and warmth to all of our hearts.

He loved football and basketball and was looking forward to March Madness. He never missed a chance to cheer on the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns, regardless of their winning or losing streak. He was a true and loyal fan.

Some of our best memories are centered around sports, family gatherings, going out to eat, and playing dominoes together.

Danny's strength, faith, and deep love shaped our family in ways that will last forever. Though we will miss him more than words can express, the love and memories he gave us remain and will be carried with us every day.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Rene Rivera.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Florence (Sanchez) Rivera; his children, Charles Rivera (Jamie), Danielle Rivera (Emmanuel), and Dawn De La Cruz (Abel); his daughter-in-law, Melissa Rivera; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and all who were blessed to call him family.

He was our rock. He was our example. And he will remain in our hearts forever and ever.
