Danny Walters Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Day & Genda Funeral Home - Frankfort Chapel on Jan. 6, 2026.

Danny Lee Walters, 80, of Kirklin, passed away, Monday, January 5, 2026, at St. Vincent Ascension Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on November 23, 1945, in Indianapolis to Tommy and Sarah (Christian) Walters. He married Vanetta Moon on September 9, 1967, and she survives.

Danny was a graduate of Arlington High School, class of 1964. He then went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, serving two tours. Danny worked in HVAC for nearly 50 years, retiring at 78 years of age. He was a member of Michigantown Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and a trustee; and the Kirklin American Legion. He enjoyed camping and playing and watching sports, especially Notre Dame and Chicago Bears football. He was a hardworking man that did whatever was necessary to provide and care for his family. His witty sense of humor and sarcasm brought laughter and smiles to those around him. He was a man’s man and will be missed by those that knew him.

Along with his wife of 58 years, Danny is survived by his children, Lori (Jerry) Scott, Staci (Brian) Henderson, Brian (Sabine) Walters, Jason Walters, and Kyle (Lauren) Walters; a brother, Ron (Helen) Walters; sister, Sharron Stevens; grandchildren, Haley Phifer, Jacob Bryan, Austin Henderson, Caleb Henderson, Karena Henderson, Karlee Henderson, Trevor Walters, Katie Walters, Gavin Walters, Haiden Walters, Kieler Walters, Brody Walters, Aiden Shelton; and great grandchildren, Owen Phifer, Ian Phifer, Max Unger, Riley Henderson, Carson Henderson, Carsyn Walters, Sadie Walters; and his special friends at Rise and Brew Coffee Shop.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Alisha Walters; and grandchildren, Riley Henderson and Brianna Walters.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Day & Genda Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Messages of condolences may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
