And when at length her course is run,
Her work for home and country done,
Of all the souls that in her sailed
Let not one life in thee have failed;
But hear from heaven our sailor's cry,
And grant eternal life on high!
− Author and date unknown

Danson Len Trotti, 77, entered into his everlasting journey on February 5, 2025.  Danson was a native son of Louisiana, having been born the second twin on December 6, 1947, in Leesville, Louisiana, the son of the late Sanford Madison Trotti Jr. and Lilian Vivdene Trotti (nee Merrell). He is preceded in death by his two brothers, as well as by his parents.

Danson served his country proudly in the United States Navy in several tours.  It was during the service that Danson entered in his life-long career of Mortician.  Before he was drawn to Laredo for employment, he was full of adventure, he loved being by the water, enjoying his beach life and listening to the sound of the waves with his feet in the sand . It’s by the water where he felt he was released from all the worries of the world and a sense of belonging. It’s by the water he is Free.  When he retired from the Armed Forces, Trotti found himself drawn to a little town called Laredo.  Just like any transplant to this wonderful city, he drank the water and never left. It was during his employment at Hillside Funeral Home, that Danson met the love of his life, Analicia. They tied the knot on February 16, 2012 in Laredo, Texas. He was a dedicated husband through sickness and health till death doth thee part, which he honored.

During his 45 plus years of service in the Funeral Service profession, he made many friends, colleagues that will forever hold those memories dear, such as those at Hillside, Gamez and Sons, and Fred Dickey Funeral Homes. His service to his country and profession now complete, we celebrate not his death, but his life, presence, and love for all whose life he touched.

He is survived by wife, Analicia; his 4 children: Chad Trotti, Danson Trotti Jr., Jessica Rose Trotti, Trenton Trotti, 14 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren, as well as by his 2 step children, colleagues and friends in the funeral service industry.

I do solemnly swear by that which I hold most sacred; That I shall be loyal to the Funeral Service Profession, and just and generous to its members; That I shall not let the constant relationship and familiarity with death give me cause to yield to carelessness or to violate my obligation to society or to the dignity of my profession. That I shall obey the Civil Laws; That I shall not divulge professional confidences; And that I shall be faithful to those who have placed their trust in me. While I continue to keep this oath inviolate, may it be granted to me to enjoy honor in my life and in my profession; and may I be respected by all people for all time. - The Funeral Directors Oath

A Memorial Service is to be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 11 am until 1 pm at Hillside Funerals and Cremations, where military honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the service by the US Navy and the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard.
