Danzel Eugene Twitty was born March 9, 1936 in Alton, Illinois to Woodrow Wilson Twitty and Mary Belle (Cantrell) Twitty and passed away October, 25, 2024 in Livingston, Texas.
Danzel graduated from Alton High School in 1954 and went on to serve in the United States Army. He later worked for McDonald Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri and also earned his teaching degree.
He had a successful career in education as a teacher, guidance counselor, and principal. Danzel was instrumental in founding the Jacksonville Youth Soccer League and enjoyed coaching baseball which led to him being a regional scout for the Philadelphia Phillies and an assistant baseball coach at San Jacinto College. But he found his most joy coaching his son, Brian in youth sports.
He also enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises, square dancing and playing the organ.
Danzel is survived by his 4 daughters, Julie Rodenhauser of Alton, Illinois, Karen Davis and husband Michael of Winchester, Illinois, Nancy Yount and husband Brian of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Dana Moore and husband Tony of Jacksonville, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, with another on the way; and brother, Robert Twitty; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Joyce Twitty (married July 10, 1999); sons, Jeffrey Michael Twitty in infancy, and Brian Joseph Twitty; and siblings, Emma Logan, Nancy Finch, Margaret Solis, Rosemary Rickman, and Hershel Niedeffer.
Graveside services for Danzel will be held at a later date.
