Daphne Gale Locklear Cox, 56, of Haw River, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at UNC Hospital–Chapel Hill.

A native of Hoke County, North Carolina, she was the wife of Ricky Cox and the daughter of Rob Locklear and Stella Mae Chavis Locklear. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her daughters: Diona Stutts and husband James, Cressa Jackson and husband Timothy, and Maylee Rice and husband Mason; grandchildren: Haley Stutts, Nolan Stutts, Hanna Stutts, Kearsyn Jackson, Coast Rice, and Cova Rice; and sisters: Debbie Langbein, Diane Locklear, and Dina Locklear Ball. She was preceded in death by her brother, Fitzgerald Locklear.

Her passion for cultivating plants was among her many gifts, and she found great joy in watching them flourish under her care. She especially cherished the beauty of hummingbirds, though nothing brought her greater happiness than time spent with her beloved grandchildren. Her presence could fill a room, her laughter was unmistakably contagious, and her genuine love for all she met left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham, North Carolina.
