Darcy Price Nied passed away at home after fighting a brave battle against cancer on Mother's Day May 11, 2025 with her family by her side.
Born Dorothy Jean Price January 4, 1960 in San Jose California, Darcy grew up in San Fernando Valley and attended Chatsworth High School. At a very young age her mother, Dotti Price, affectionately named her Darcy which she used the rest of her life. Dotti inculcated in Darcy a strong foundation of private enterprise with a solid commitment to integrity and great compassion for her fellow man. Darcy left the University of Southern California USC to open a marketing firm in the field of Real Estate where she attained great success. Her passion was always to make a difference in everyone she met either in person or on the phone, and it was that personal touch that led to a loyal customer following through her entire career. She later seized upon an opportunity to enter real estate mortgage banking in Burbank California where she brought the dream of home ownership alive for so many people. Her clients adored her. Darcy made a strategic move into the field of Insurance where she worked hard to acquire and build several insurance agencies, first in southern California and then in Arizona. She spent 25 years becoming highly proficient with insurance making a difference in so many people's lives.
Darcy was so much more than a success in business. Her priorities always were God, family, and friends. Loving her Lord Jesus Christ Darcy became a very active member of Vineyard Church, Costa Mesa California, where she volunteered in the children's ministry for many years. When she found her final home in Gordo Alabama Darcy quickly became an active member of Grace Community Church loving so many new friends. She remained very close with her grade school friends often attending planned events, no matter where she lived, as those dear friends meant so much to her. It was always a high priority for Darcy to be there for family as she understood just how precious they were to her. In May of 1992 Darcy met what was to become the love of her life Arthur Nied. Art and Darcy met on a blind date which led to the most wonderful 33 years of her life.
Darcy was preceded in death by her father Robert Price and her mother Dorothy 'Dotti' Price née Hansens, her father-in-law Herman Arthur Nied, her aunts Marilyn Dzubinski (Chet) and Jo Mallory, cousins Katrina Lockwood, Jim Mallory, and her brother-in-law Carl Engle.
