Daria Lynn Hellams, born on September 12, 1951, Moultrie, GA to Luther Jefferson and Lila Montene DeMott Barrentine, passed away on February 14, 2026, at Memorial Health in Savannah at the age of 74. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and dedication that touched many lives throughout her remarkable journey.
Daria Lynn's formative years were spent in Glennville, where she graduated from Glennville High School in 1969. With a passion for beauty and care, she became a master cosmetologist in 1971. For an impressive 27 years, Daria Lynn served as the beloved beautician at Glenvue Nursing Home, where her gentle spirit and professional skills made a significant difference in the lives of her patients. Daria Lynn approached her work with love, treating each individual with the utmost respect and kindness, embodying what it truly means to be a caregiver.
Daria Lynn was not only dedicated to her profession but also enriched her life with various hobbies and interests. She had a profound love for her plants and was known for her exceptional seamstress skills. A true heart for the culinary arts, Daria Lynn enjoyed swimming, baking, and cooking, earning the affectionate title of "the biscuit making queen." Her zest for life and creativity extended to everything she did, leaving an indelible mark on those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Hellams; siblings, Jerry Barrentine, Reggie Barrentine, Sondra Hinkle, and Phyllis Branch; nephews, Joe Hilton, Jr. and Sean Patrick Archambault.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Alissa and Paul Rish of Macon; nieces and nephews, Montene Brach (Stacey), Teresa Lancaster (Richard), Kimberly Archambault (Mike), Jeff Branch (Sherry), Donna Swinson, Michael Barrentine, and a close friend of the family, Tracy Davis (Chris).
Her memory will be honored through visitation services on February 18, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Glennville Funeral Home, located at 403 W. Barnard Street, Glennville, GA. A funeral service celebrating Daria Lynn's life will take place the following day, February 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM, with Reverend Michael Kennedy officiating.
