Send FlowersARMSTRONG - Darin Dwayne Staley, 56, of Armstrong, passed away at 6:53 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 5, 1969, in Danville, the son of Tom and Edna (Miller) Staley. He married Tori Lester on Nov. 27, 1987, in Charlottesville, Va. She survives.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheyenne (Glenn Cronk) Staley of Rockville, Ind.; his son, Dakota (Rachel) Staley of Armstrong; six grandchildren, Gabriel Cronk, Grant Cronk, Sophia Staley, Charlotte Cronk, Gatlin Staley, and Gunner Cronk; his mother, Edna Staley of Georgetown; his brother, Eric Staley of Champaign; three sisters, Theresa Pittman of Potomac, Anita (Alan) Gash of Georgetown, and Deneen (Peter) Hunold of Baltimore, Ohio; three brothers-in-law, Jesse (Vickie) Lester of Arkansas, Clint Lester of Tennessee, and Wesley Harrison of Illinois; two sisters-in-law, Megean (Robert) Jones of Tennessee and Delta (John) Koontz of Illinois; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, uncle Buddy Miller, aunt Carolyn Miller, and cousin Buddy Miller Jr.
Darin graduated from Potomac High School in 1987, and subsequently attended Parkland College, where he earned his Commercial Driver's License (CDL). He spent several years employed as a truck driver with OTL and a majority of his life running Staley Trucking. Darin enjoyed fishing, driving, and appreciated relaxing on his back porch while spending quality time with his family. His hobbies included watching NASCAR, collecting gas cans, and piddling around on his tractor.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be arranged. A memorial gathering is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at the Potomac Community Building located at 310 W. State St., Potomac. The family has entrusted Blurton Funeral Home with assisting in commemorating Darin's life.
