Darla Mae Groshens, age 86, of Buffalo, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27th, 2025, at Havenwood of Buffalo.

Born on August 6th, 1938, in South Branch, MN, Darla was the daughter of Henry and Regina Sodeman. On November 28th, 1959, she married the love of her life, Jack Edwin Groshens of Elm Creek Township near Jackson, MN. Together, they were blessed with one son, Jeffrey Lee Groshens.

Darla began her career at the Wright County Auditor-Treasurer's office in 1970 as a Clerk. Through dedication and hard work, she rose through the ranks to become Deputy Auditor-Treasurer. In 1991, Darla was sworn in as the county's Auditor-Treasurer. She served in that role until her retirement, always taking her responsibilities seriously and finding joy in making a positive impact every day.

In retirement, Darla and Jack spent their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona, where they embraced hobbies old and new-bowling, gardening, golfing, cheerleading, and playing card games like Texas Hold'em. Above all, Darla cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother-the glue that held her loved ones together. Her beautiful soul and loving heart will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Darla is survived by her son, Jeffrey Groshens; grandchildren Lauryn (Ryan) Cottrell and Zackery (Lindsay) Groshens; great-grandchildren Wessen Cottrell, Kynzlee Cottrell, and Brooks Groshens; sisters-in-law Eileen Curry and Shari (Bob) Larson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack; her parents, Henry and Regina; brothers Darrell Sodeman and Darwin (Joanne) Sodeman; brother-in-law Neil Curry; and nephew Brian Curry.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Buffalo, MN, with visitation beginning one hour prior. A fellowship luncheon will follow in the church basement. Darla will be laid to rest alongside Jack at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Monday, September 22nd, 2025.
