Darlene Dolores Auld

GWINN, MI – Darlene Dolores Auld, age 82, of Gwinn, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022, at UP Health System-Marquette.
Born November 27, 1939, in Marquette, the daughter of Wilbur and Bernice (Anderson) Hanson, Darlene was the firstborn child who was followed by a younger brother. She was raised in Marquette where she graduated from high school. Darlene later moved to Illinois where she was employed at Chanute Air Force Base in Civil Service as Commissary manager. There, she was in charge of hundreds of employees, possessed great leadership skills, and kept things moving along. It was there she met one of her employees, Tom Auld, who was serving active duty in the Air Force. The couple was later married in Omaha, Nebraska, where they made their first home, before finally making the move to Gwinn. They loved the Upper Peninsula because it fit their lifestyle of enjoying the great outdoors. They had an amazing and loving marriage and Tom often remarked that Darlene was super smart and always took care of the people around her. Darlene had a love of music, loved to sing, and together the couple often enjoyed Karaoke. They both shared a love of music and did a LOT of dancing. Darlene was a true Yooper, spending time lake and river fishing, and with Tom often out in the woods. The couple even had a secret apple tree and never divulged its location to the rest of the family. It was their special place. She has been described by her family as "absolutely great".
Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Thomas; her step-son, Mike (Donna) Auld; her brother, Rod (Sue) Hanson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Private services and entombment will be made at the Northland Chapel Gardens.
