Darlene Corey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC on Jan. 4, 2026.
Ms. Darlene Corey, who was 60 years old, sadly passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in Monroeville, Alabama. A lifelong resident of this town, she was known and loved by many in the community. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of those around her, and she will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.

She loved attending church and found great joy in teaching children during children's church. Reading the Bible was a big part of her daily life, and she often enjoyed relaxing with search-a-word puzzles. As a devout Christian, her faith shaped everything she did. She cherished going on road trips, shopping with family and friends, and cheering for Alabama football. Cooking was another passion of hers, and she took pride in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. Church was not just a place for her; it was a major part of her life and a source of happiness and community.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Larry Wayne and Bobbie Williams Corey; nephews, Russell Ikner and Jon Daniel Sheets.

She is survived by her sisters, Rebecca (Ward) Boutwell of McCullough, Alabama, Auddy Nina Lassiter of Mexia, Alabama, Sonja Corey of Atmore, Alabama, Lila (Randall) Rolin of Lottie, Alabama and Connie Mack of Gulf Breeze, Florida.

Darlene had numerous nieces and nephews, she never had any children of her own, but she helped take care of everyone else's children, they called her "Momma D".
