Darlene Eastman

The memorial service celebrating the life of Darlene Eastman of New York Mills will be held at 2:00p.m. on Thursday, August 21, at the Oylen Church in rural Verndale with Pastor Neal Malcore presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. A private burial will be at a later date in Viola Lake Cemetery near Siren, WI. Darlene, age 83, passed away on August 6, 2025, Vitality Living in New York Mills, MN, with tender care by the staff and Moments Hospice. Darlene was born to Rev. Martin and Arlene (Culbretson) Eastman on April 9, 1942, in Wadena, MN. She attended grades one through eight in Hubbard, MN, then graduated high school in nearby Park Rapids. She attended St. Paul Bible College for a year then relocated with her family to North Saint Paul. Darlene went into the insurance field and stayed with it until she retired. Darlene lived in the Oylen area for about 10 years with her pet cats and dogs until moving to New York Mills in 2021. Preceding Darlene in death were her parents Rev. Martin and Arlene; and siblings, Marlyce Balton, Gary Eastman and Scot Eastman. Survivors include her brothers, Alan Eastman of Oak Park Heights and Jay (Anna) Eastman of Mineral Wells, Texas; along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
