Louis Murdock

The Mass of Christian Burial for Louis Murdock of Verndale will be celebrated at 10:30a.m. on Saturday, August 30, at St. Frederick's Catholic Church in Verndale, with Father Jean-Claude Duncan as celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be in St. Frederick's Catholic Cemetery in Verndale, MN. With family at his side, Louis passed away at the age of 94 on August 27, 2025, at Astera Healthcare in Wadena, MN. Louis was the first child born to David and Veronica (Goche) Murdock on August 18, 1931, at their home in Wing River Township, Wadena County, MN. He attended nearby District 20 country school before attending Verndale High School and graduating in 1949. During the Korean Conflict, Louis served as a Corporal in the US Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. After returning home he went to school at Hanson School of Mechanics in Fargo, ND and then worked as a car and truck mechanic at Uselman Inc. in Wadena . Later, he was employed at the Carter-Ringer factory in Staples as a sewing machine repairman. A kind and patient man, Loui lived a simple life in rural Verndale. Never frivolous in what God provided he was very disciplined in his faith, with prayer, and dedication to church. He was an all around handy man for his entire family. Preceding Louis in death were his parents; siblings: Marlys Meyer and John Murdock; sisters-in-law: Myrna and Ann Murdock; and brother-in-law, Frank Scheller. Surviving Louis are his siblings Ray (Emily) Murdock of Staples and Barbara Scheller of Verndale; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Serving as pallbearer will be Kevin Perius, Tom Dalen, Terry Perius, Dan Murdock, Rich Murdock and Arlyn Mack. Military honors will be delivered by the Elmer Goche Post 3922, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wadena, MN
