JOHNSON, Ms. Darlene - Age 73, passed away Friday, August 25, 2023, at Willow Brook Manor. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, September 2, 2023, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Saturday. Ms. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral home and may be viewed during the family hour only. Ms. Darlene Johnson was born on November 28, 1949 in Pensacola, Florida, the daughter of Joseph Jasper and Leila Mae Johnson. When Darlene and her fraternal twin brother, Darrell Johnson were four, her parents moved them and her other siblings to Flint, Michigan. She attended Flint Community Schools, graduating from Flint Northern High School, "Class of 1967." After high school, she began employment at AC Spark Plug later named Delphi, a division of General Motors Corporation where she retired after more than thirty years of service.
Darlene was known for her effervescent smile and engaging personality. Her love for shopping, traveling and spending time with family brought tremendous joy to her life; she made friends easily wherever she traveled. A beautiful woman with indomitable strength, she was often mistaken for a model!
Ms. Darlene Johnson leaves to cherish her memory: brothers, Joseph (Faye) Johnson of Flint, Darrell (Bertina) Johnson of Grand Blanc, MI and Richard Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; uncles, Isaiah Elam of Rocky Mount, NC and Eugene (Andray) Johnson of Philadelphia, PA; nieces, Tinesha Johnson and Tracy Johnson; nephews, DeBarkus Johnson, Elton Johnson, Freddie Johnson, Darrell Johnson Jr., Ricky Johnson, James Barron Johnson and Joseph Johnson Jr.; a host of other relatives and friends.
Ms. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Jasper and Leila Mae Johnson; brother, Elton Johnson; great-nephew, Treon Johnson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
